Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to our help center, where you'll find answers to common questions.

What is Pathrise

Pathrise is a career accelerator that works on your behalf to help you thrive in your career! We use proprietary tech, data-driven strategies, and one-on-one expert mentorship to provide you with resume, interview, networking, and negotiation support. Our fellows typically experience an increase in interview scores, more job offers, and even increased salaries.

Is Pathrise a coding bootcamp or an educational institution?

Nope! Pathrise focuses on helping you with your job search. You're expected to have some education or experience coming into Pathrise and our job is to help you significantly improve your odds of getting a job by providing structure, strategy, accountability, and expert guidance.

Can I try the program out before committing?

For sure! It’s important to us that potential fellows understand what Pathrise is like before they join our program, which is why we offer a two week Free Trial. If you’re ready to learn more or get started, fill out your application here or reach out to info@pathrise.com

What types of jobs or industries is Pathrise for?

Pathrise currently helps people find jobs in these areas: software engineering, product management, strategy, operations, data, marketing, and sales.

What are the eligibility requirements for Pathrise?

At this time, Pathrise only works with job seekers who are 18 or older and eligible to work in the United States. Beyond that, we look for a commitment to improvement and a baseline level of knowledge or skills to be competitive in your field. While there is no secret formula, we are committed to working with those we feel we can help and at the end of the day, if we’re not sure we can provide you with the value you need and deserve, we may not approve your application.

Am I not experienced enough/too experienced for Pathrise?

We advise a wide range of fellows with varying levels of experience and for each candidate, we evaluate both their potential and how much of a difference our program can make before inviting them to join the program.

What does the timeline look like for applying to Pathrise and joining the program?

The application process generally takes one to two weeks from beginning to end, followed by a two week Free Trial. With that being said, we tailor our Trial experience to the individual needs of potential fellows and if you would like to be accelerated, we can often expedite the process to as short as a few days. We accept new fellows on a rolling basis throughout the year.

With that said, it’s important that our fellows understand what Pathrise can offer them and what it entails, which is why we offer folks the full two weeks as a standard baseline.

How much of a time commitment is Pathrise?

There are a lot of factors that go into how many hours a week you’ll spend when enrolled in the full program. A lot of these come down to individual factors like how quickly you read and process information and most of them have to do with how much time you choose to invest.

With that said, our fellows typically spend an average of 10 hours per week on their job search, which includes up to two hours of sessions with Pathrise mentors per week and the remaining time spent on all of the activities you should already be doing for your job search: submitting applications, sending cold outreach emails, and refining your interview skills. Pathrise as a program is designed to run in parallel to your job search, guiding you throughout and adding value, not extra work.

Finally, we expect our fellows to be committed to the program because of our shared success: when you win, we win – and vice versa. As such, our fellows are accountable for a minimum number of Job Search Tasks but we are always flexible on adjusting individual expectations as long as our fellows communicate their needs proactively.

Where do Pathrise fellows typically end up working?

Pathrise alumni work everywhere from major markets like San Francisco and New York to smaller cities in the US. Some Pathrise alumni also work in remote or hybrid positions.

We help our fellows get jobs across a wide range of companies, both inside and outside of tech, and we have alumni at Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Uber, Amazon, Zynga, Ipsy, Affirm, Yext, Magic Leap, Cryptomove, Lumahealth, TrueAccord, Abridge.AI, Codeacademy, Bitfusion, VMWare, Smarkets, Loop, Kaiser Permanente, Clover Networks, Doordash, Crate.io, Arc Block, Cerner, Yelp, Postmates, LogMeIn, UPS, E&Y, Northrop Grumman, and more.

We help folks regardless of their end goal, whether that’s an early stage startup, a top tech firm, or something else – because Pathrise is built around personalized mentorship and generalizable best practices.

What happens after I get a job?

Depending on the Plan you choose, we offer Job Transition Support to ensure the start of your new chapter is as smooth and successful as possible. Once you graduate from the program, you will be liable for payments on your Income Based Repayment Loan (see below) that you applied for and were approved for before at the end of your Free Trial. If you’re a recently placed fellow with questions, please reach out to support@pathrise.com.

What are Pathrise's flexible payment options?

At the end of your Free Trial, your Admissions Manager will walk you through a loan application process with one of the financing providers we work with. Pathrise offers many flexible financing options, among them Income Based Repayment loans, where we only get paid if you get placed first and there’s built-in protection in case you lose your job or your income decreases. Your payment accountabilities typically begin 30-60 days after you leave the program and start getting paid in your new job.

The financing provider as well as our team is always standing by if you’re dealing with extenuating circumstances or need some extra flexibility. If you’re a prospective fellow and have additional questions about any of our payment options, please reach out to info@pathrise.com. If you’re a current Trial fellow, in the full program, or recently placed, reach out to support@pathrise.com

Can I work with Pathrise if I’m already employed or interviewing companies?

While we typically work with job seekers who are unemployed, we do work with fellows who have full-time employment but are focused on transitioning to a new role. The same goes for folks who are already interviewing with companies or who are about to receive an offer!

Depending on the exact stage you’re at in the process, we will either entirely exclude or discount potential offers from the Income Based Repayment agreement. Because Pathrise offers so much support and so many resources when it comes to interviewing and negotiation, we are not able to offer a discount for any companies you’ve applied to or have only completed the first interview with. Instead, we will provide significant assistance in helping you through those earlier stages all the way up until you accept an offer! It’s super important to disclose any and all jobs you have in process when you talk with your Admissions Manager so that they can revise your contract with an Addendum, if applicable.

What happens if I need to withdraw after the Free Trial?

While we offer the two week Free Trial as a way for folks to try Pathrise before they commit to the full program, we understand that life happens. If you find yourself in a position where you’re no longer job searching, we do approve withdrawals from our program on a case by case basis and for a nominal weekly fee (not including the two weeks of the Free Trial).

What if I have more questions?

If you’re a prospective fellow with more questions about the application process, feel free to email info@pathrise.com. If you’re a current fellow (or a prospective fellow) with questions about the Terms of Service, Income Based Repayment, definition of Placement, or Withdrawal policy, please email our Customer Operations Team at support@pathrise.com
